Case Study 3 LANDSCAPE DESIGN CASE STUDY 3Nicola and Glen approached Changing Spaces Landscape Design in January 2007 to create a fun outdoor environment for their children, to plant more natives and to provide lots of growing space for edible plants. CHALLENGES 1 Nicola and Glen moved into a new house in a new suburb where the sloping section had been grassed and left. 2 There was no shelter and no privacy. 3 The paving outdoor living area was not large enough. 4 The internal fences had not been built to make the best use of space.
SOLUTIONS 5 Levels were taken and low retaining walls designed to create a flat lawn area. 6 The internal fence was moved closer to the driveway to create an area for a raised vegetable garden and a meandering sloping path that the children love to play on. 7 A swing was installed within a planted area to reduce maintenance and make the play area a little more ‘mysterious. 8 The front entrance way has been planted up completely in natives. This has created privacy, added much more street appeal and eradicated lawn mowing. PLAN ))
