Bronwyn Rosie and Mark Frater Testimonial for Karen Wealleans On a friend’s recommendation and following an initial interview, Gary and I engaged Karen, as Landscape Designer, to design and develop a landscape plan for our home in Devonport. Our home is on a small subdivided section, close to the beach, and our wish was to create a low maintenance landscape with a “resort” feel to it. On the initial interview, we related well to Karen, and felt she understood our wishes for the garden and outdoor area; while at the same time putting forward suggestions to give life and meaning to the concept we had in our minds. Karen came up with several initial concept plans which provided the basis for further discussion and ongoing development of the final plan. Our site is rather small, and Karen managed to locate the outdoor “resort” courtyard complete with spa pool in the area available next to the lounge, creating wonderful indoor / outdoor flow. Another criteria was to provide raised vegetable and herb gardens that would practical, yet pleasant to view. The planting Karen designed for us has been a wonderful mix of texture, height and colour. The different style of native plants giving the semi-tropical resort look we wanted. Native plants were used extensively throughout the site. It is now a year on from our landscaping project, and we are absolutely thrilled with the result. The outdoor area is extremely practical and attractive, and the planting lush. We have been delighted with the changing show of colour that has come as a result of the plants Karen recommended to us. The raised garden beds are wonderful to use, and again are very practical, with continuous planting of edible vegetables available for our table year round.
